Testing, testing, one two….
Looks good.
Asalaam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu..
Bismillah ir Rahman ir Raheem…
Welcome readers to the first entry of the Islamic Artists Society blog. This blog was created as a quick and easy way to track the progress and growth of our new Yahoo! group. We hope that with time, we can become an arts organization dedicated to the growth and development of Islamic art. Goals and objectives will be posted very soon but in nutshell, we want to build a perserve our artistic traditions of the past and create new forms of expression for the future.
We want to show Muslims and non-Muslims that we can be artists who are true to our creative inspirations while being true to Islam. Islamic art has a legacy that is over 1400 years old and Muslims are returning and looking at the art forms of the past and renewing them in exciting and creative ways for the future.
We are painters, poets, film makers, calligraphers, digital artists, writers, jewelry makers, fashion designers, web designers, architects, leather smiths, interior designers, magazine editors, radio personalities, comedians, etc. We are pioneering a new culture created by Muslims, for Muslims.
A website will come soon, insha’Allah, but for now, this blog can keep track of our progress. This blog will serve as a online gallery for our artists, arts news from various organizations, important and timely articles on Muslim artists and our monthly minutes.
We hope you enjoy our group and we would love to hear your feeback.
Wasalaam,
Kelly Izdihar Crosby
